Our institution's beginnings may be traced back to the visionary efforts of Prof. Late Birendra Mohan Acharya of Kalyani B.T. College and Lt. Col. Dwijendinath Bhattacharyya, the driving force behind Bhagirathi Shilpashram. Our college was first established by annexing two-storied buildings to Bhagirathi Shilpashram. On July 1, 1971, Calcutta University recognised Bhagirathi Post Graduate Teachers' Training College. After that, we changed our name to Bhagirathi College of Education and became affiliated with the University of Kalyani. Subsequently, we earned affiliation to the University of Kalyani, undergoing a name change to Bhagirathi College of Education.
Our journey, full of experience and transformations, was boosted significantly by the kindness of Srimat Swami Sachinandan Das Mohanta Maharajji. His generosity includes donating 36.5 decimal of land to help expand college in this rural region. Our institution was duly named Shimurali Sachinandan College of Education (SSCE) in 1984 as a token of appreciation and recognition. We forever pay homage to this great-hearted soul for his enduring support.
SSCE remains a shining example of high-quality education even in the face of overwhelming difficulties. We are a West Bengal government-aided college affiliated to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). In 2016, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded us Grade "A" accreditation, demonstrating our dedication to quality.
Nowadays, SSCE has the privilege to offer the B.Ed. programme in eight different school subjects in our Wi-Fi-connected, fully CCTV-covered campus. Our cutting-edge automated and digital library, equipped with RFID technology, is a true gem in our academic crown. Our academic profile is further enhanced by the well-developed infrastructure and contemporary Language Laboratory and Virtual Classrooms.
